Swedish Massage

Swedish massage was invented in the 18th century, in Sweden by a man called Per Henrik Ling. Per introduced Swedish massage in to the U.S in 1855, as a Swedish movement cure.

Clinical studies report that Swedish massage can reduce lower back pain and the effectiveness can last as long as 15 weeks. Another report shows that Swedish massage decreases stress and improves mood. It can help promote healing, targeting pain, injuries, stress and stiffness. It is also good for easing muscular strain by flushing out toxins.

Some further benefits of Swedish massage include:

  • Improving circulation by increasing oxygen flow in the blood.
  • Feeling more energised.
  • Helps to keep ligaments and tendons supple.
  • Reducing emotional and physical stress.
  • Great for reducing cellulite.
  • Evidence that regular massages can compliment treatments of cancer, depression and anxiety by improving your quality of life.

Cream or oil will be applied to the body, ready for your massage; enhancing the effects of your massage, easing your muscles, letting them relax, repair and also moisturising your skin.

The  5 techniques that I will use during the massage are: Effleurlage, tapotement, vibrations, friction and petrissage.
